The Sohnlandic government switches recognition to the real China

Why the change of recognition

For a long time, the People's Republic of China (PRC) that occupies the mainland of China was one of The Sohnland's biggest trade partners when it came to buying and selling technology, digital works, and new and planned infrastructure.

We previously had recognised the PRC due to the one China policy. However, our directive has now changed. We have realised that the government in mainland China is an authoritarian regime that commits irreparable human rights violations and many atrocities in the modern day. It is morally wrong to favour trade over supporting and recognising the free and democratic country of Taiwan.

The Sohnland's official government accounts on Chinese social media platforms and that Sohnlandic government websites were completely blocked for being a foreign government force outside threat to national security and "Harming the unity, sovereignty, or territorial integrity of the nation" according to Chinese government affiliated censors. This prompted a shut down in TSL and PRC trade and an eventual switch in diplomatic relations for recognition of Taiwan (Republic of China) in retaliation.

What happens now

Let's get the obvious out of the way, we are changing recognition to Taiwan (ROC); What does this mean for The Sohnland and the PRC? All trade and exchanges shall cease from the 8th of September 2021. The Taiwanese flag will now be used to officially represent China in The Sohnland and passports administered by the PRC will be considered void.
